Natural Gas compressor
lead mechanic will play a key role in supervising installation, trouble shooting, repairing, and overhauling engines, compressors, pumps, and other equipment. Engine types include: Superior/CAT/Clark. Compressors will include: Cooper, Superior, and Ariel. Applicant also has to have a firm understanding of EH&S initiatives and procedures and the ability to lead others.
Plan and implement major overhauls on compressors and engines
Inspect all equipment, including compressors, engines, pumps, generators etc.
Repair and maintain pumps, compressors and engines as required.
Monitor performance of mechanical parts and enter data into computer.
Prepare daily and monthly equipment status reports on all equipment as needed.
Relay operating/safety problems or concerns to supervisor
Assist in filter changes, general maintenance and housekeeping for all facilities
Assist in parts inventory for all engines, pumps, compressors etc.
Adhere to written operating procedures for shutdown and startup of equipment
Adhere to lockout and tagout procedures when performing maintenance activities
Actively participate in various elements of production excellence programs.
Actively participate in tailgate safety meetings, JSA's and monthly safety meetings.
- Participate in HazOp reviews as required.
- Actively participate in various elements of production excellence programs.
- Willing to mentor and teach others skills necessary to maintain equipment after installation
- Participate in emergency response activities as required.
Minimum 5 years experience in oil and gas industry in the maintenance of natural gas compression equipment.
Willing to accept responsibility and accountability with a positive attitude.
Good communication skills.
Knowledge of safety/environmental requirements and practices.
Must be physically able to climb stairs, operate valves and pumps and perform maintenance work under air supplied breathing equipment.
Must be willing to work night callouts, weekends and holidays according to the normal operating schedule.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Technical school certificate or job experience equivalence.
