TransitAmerica Services, Inc. is currently looking for a Radio Technician.
Description of Work:
Conducts repairs, tests, troubleshooting and overhaul of all radio equipment and circuits, operational systems and facility equipment in accordance with FCC standards and regulations.
Inspects and troubleshoots communications radios and circuits and systems; records the findings including the results from above in accordance with FCC standards and regulations.
Maintains and repairs the above in accordance with FCC standards and regulations along with Caltrain Test and Maintenance Manual for Communications systems. Assembles various railroad communication apparatus, i.e. mobile radios, facility radio, systems, and on board radios.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsible for the testing, inspection, installation, maintenance, repair and overhaul of all radio communications equipment to include hand-held, portable and installed systems in facilities, stations and on board trains.
High School diploma or equivalent
FCC Radio qualification preferred
Valid Driver’s License

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing using the English language.
Exposure to outside/inside environments, medium lighting and high noise levels.
Exposure to all weather conditions including extreme cold, snow and rain.
Will be required to bend, stoop, stand, and climb in performing daily tasks and activities.
Works in an environment with many distractions.
Required to wear safety apparel and equipment while performing job duties.
Must be able to work safely around loose materials, uneven surfaces and metal plates and equipment.
Must have visual acuity and hearing capability sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job unless other vision or hearing standards are required by law.
Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull loads in accordance with all applicable safety rules and regulations.
