The Animal Science Department is accepting applications for an Agricultural Specialist I who will be working with growing and lactating cow trials, grow/finish pig experiments, and lactating goat experiments for the Nutritional and Environmental Physiology Program. This position will be responsible for experiment oversight; research diet quality control; collection and maintenance of research data integrity; contributing to writing final reports for funding agencies; coordinating research activities in both animal research facilities and the on-campus laboratory; providing supervision for undergraduate students; and performing laboratory assays.

The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills, written and oral as well as the ability to work independently or in a team setting. Attention to detail to follow exact and consistent experimental protocols is essential. The candidate will also possess the ability to frequently lift feed bags or young pigs (approximately 50 pounds) and other occasional lifting.

Required Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree in Animal Science, Biological Science or related field and some related experience OR a combination of related education and experience totaling more than four years. Experience must be at a comparable level and directly related to the duties of the position.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in an animal research facility.
Experience working with swine, dairy cattle and goats.
Experience working in an analytical laboratory.
Experience with the MS Office Suite.

Minimum $23,254 based on 3/4 time appointment; commensurate with qualifications

Special Conditions
The duties of this position will require possession of a valid Iowa driver's license and access to a personal vehicle.

Term position with the possibility of renewal. All accrued vacation must be taken during the term of this appointment. Unused vacation will be forfeited upon resignation or termination from ISU.
