Fire Technicians report directly to the General Manager, but are responsible to Project Managers or Service Dispatchers on a daily activity basis. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: responding to and resolving all assigned installation and service calls in an efficient and professional manner; and other tasks as assigned .
Knowledge and experience with Electricity and Electronics theory including Ohms Law. Minimum of (5) Five years’ experience in Fire Alarm as an Installer/Programmer/Technician. Experience Programming Addressable Fire Alarm Systems sold only thru Distribution, GW-FCI a plus. Intrusion Detection, Access Control and CCTV not required, but not desirable.. Ability to learn on-site Project Management, troubleshooting, programming, testing, and installation of fire alarm systems. Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, software/systems, programs, schematics and operation/product manuals. Working knowledge of DOS, test equipment to include: multi-meter, digital analyzers, frequency meters, decibel meters and communicating devices is required. Ability to obtain any licenses or certifications required by National, State and Local codes. Be self-motivated, hardworking and detail-oriented. Be a team player contributing to the continued success, growth and excellent reputation of RFI. Repair and/or restore all systems per specifications and in conjunction with any pertaining building and or electrical codes. Test all systems and equipment, after repairs are made, to ensure performance of system. All work is performed to RFI standards and quality techniques are practiced. Work at required heights utilizing ladders, scaffolding, lifts, or other. Work in confined spaces as necessary. Assist on installation projects when required. Assist in training apprentices on· RFI procedures, systems and service techniques. Daily communications with Service Coordinator on delays, requirements and general status of Service Work Orders. 24hr on-call rotation. Tests all equipment after termination is made to ensure performance of system. All work is performed to RFI standards and quality installation techniques are practiced. Work at required heights utilizing ladders, scaffolding, lifts, or other. Work in confined spaces as necessary. Responsible for training apprentices on RFI procedures, systems and installation techniques.
Work with Field Engineers on startup to ensure complete system compliance. Maintain professional licensing and certifications as required by manufacturers, State and Local jurisdictions. Work proactively and in a positive manner with all co-workers. Communicate effectively and in a timely manner to resolve RFI, Customer, or other inquiries and/or requests. Provide reports to management. Adhere to procedures and standards in system design for quality installations. Maintain accurate project information with in RFI shared files and system. Maintain communications with customers and management to resolve customer issues. Ability to solve practical problems and carry out responsibilities without supervision. Ability to organize workload for effective implementation. Ability to write simple correspondence and present information in one-an-one and small group situations.
Ability to adapt as the external environment and organization evolves. Maintain knowledge of current industry standards and emerging technologies. Other duties deemed necessary.
Education, Work Experience and Requirements:
High school education, or equivalent, or 2 year associate degree in electronics or equivalent required OR NICET Level 2 Certified.
Knowledge and experience with Boolean Logic programming.
Experience programming addressable fire alarm control panels, including campus network environments and high-rise life safety with smoke control. Effective written and oral communication skills. Basic computer skills.
Experience in access control, CCTV, and /or nurse call a plus.
Military training / experience a plus.
State Fire Alarm Certification.
Ability to read blue prints and schematics.
Basic computer skills. This position requires a valid driver’s license, clean driving record and insurance.

Specific vision abilities include close vision and color vision. Must be able to effectively communicate, (i.e. see, hear, speak and write clearly) in order to communicate with employees and/or customers; manual dexterity required for frequent reaching, climbing, and lifting of moderate objects, operation of power and manual tools/equipment, and operating office equipment.
