Schedule: Full Time 6AM - 6PM days, off T,F,S
The primary responsibility of a Security Training Coordinator at Jackson Hospital is training and maintaining training records of Security personnel, while also fulfilling the duties of a security officer, providing the protection of all persons and property connected with the hospital. He/she works to assure officers maintain a certain level of training while also working to assure the safety and general welfare of all staff patients and visitors when not involved in a training class.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
High School graduate or GED. APOSTC Certification or equivalent. Previous law enforcement or correctional experience (with minimum standards APOSTC certification or equivalent) required. FBI Firearms Instructor Certification and previous experience as an instructor at an APOSTC approved law enforcement academy or the equivalent required. Taser Training Certification, handcuffing techniques, self defense, or other instructional experience preferred. Ten years military service experience in the field of military police training will be considered.
Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations: Valid Alabama Driver’s License, APOSTC Certification or equivalent, h ave and maintain a clean driving record, and pass a background check
Specialized Skills: Previous experience in classroom/field instruction for law enforcement firearms training, taser training, or other law enforcement instructional classes is needed. Working knowledge of computers, cameras, metal detectors, surveillance equipment, firearms, taser and investigative experience a plus.
Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to detain, restrain, when necessary for the protection of self and others. Must be able to walk and stand for prolonged periods and be able to do heavy lifting.
