The primary focus of this position is to lead, plan and administer all benefits for MRV Communications, Inc. and handle all the HRIS strategy and implementation. Additionally, this role is to be the primary liaison between third party vendors and all areas that are in conjunction with other functions (payroll and systems administration). The role is responsible for the timely review and submittal of vendor bills associated with all HR functions. This person will also be responsible for the administration oversight of on-boarding, billing reconciliation, new hire orientation, maintenance of employee files, to ensure the integrity of the data in HRIS .

  • Serve as employee contact for benefit issues
  • Manage the benefits RFP process and collect census data to support this effort
  • Select and negotiate benefit plans and rates on behalf of the Company globally
  • Interface with carriers and broker regarding billing and enrollment issues
  • Work with HR generalists and payroll in all foreign locations for benefit plans
  • Reconcile monthly inv o ices, providing data breakdown for A/P
  • Lead the open enrollment process through training and education
  • Oversee COBRA a dministration and billing reconciliation
  • Manag e the 401(K) administration . Provide annual 401 k census and oversee the Payroll Administrator with regards to the 401k audit
  • Enhance and maintain the HRIS system
  • Collaborate and design with IT all necessary information for reporting
  • Create new fields as required
  • Train and create necessary systems administrators globally on all HRIS systems
  • Create ad hoc reports for management
  • Work with HR Business Partner and Director to process hires/terminations
  • Process status changes
G eneralist Functions
  • Facilities oversight and coordination with Director

  • Exit interviews as needed
  • Collect data for the Affirmative Action Plan
  • Administer the EEO-1, Vets 100A, and Cal OSHA 300A filing
  • Interface with payroll on a regular basis
  • Handle local employee relations issues and escalate when necessary
  • Ad-hoc projects as may be assigned
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality & professionalism at all times
  • Ability to communicate effectively and with integrity to all levels of employees
  • Good written communication skills
  • Excellent Excel and Word skills a must – level two
  • Ability to use HRIS system – preferably ORACLE
  • Familiarity with Payroll and Paychex is a plus
  • Diligence to complete detaile d projects accurately and timely
  • Ability to relentlessly pursue solutions to challenges
  • Ability to multi-task and process large volume of data/information
  • Fundamental knowledge of employment law and ERISA
  • 3 - 5 years of human resources specialty experience in benefits and HRIS
  • College education preferred
  • T raining specific to benefit s and HRIS
  • Must have a passport and travel internationally when required – about twice a year internationally and up to 4 times a year to Chelmsford
