The North Carolina Translational and Clinical Sciences (NC TraCS) Institute is working hard to reduce the time it takes for laboratory discoveries to become treatments and to engage communities in all aspects of clinical research. The Institute also fulfills the critical need to train new generations of clinical and translational investigators. To support these activities, NC TraCS offers research communities access to a number of programs and services that will support all phases of research.
Working within research-Registered Nurse:
The Registered Nurse will provide specialized, professional nursing care to healthy and non-healthy research participants involved in an approved research protocol conducted by a Principal Investigator. Activities will include: providing direct, individualized care to research patients who are participating in research protocols, data collection, administration of study drugs and devices, collection and processing of research samples, working with study team and research team, data collection, observe, intervene and report protocol related adverse events. They will communicate directly to the study team and exhibit good communication skills both written and verbal and comply with regulations governing care of human subjects.
Working within research-Licensed Practical Nurse:
The LPN duties may include providing basic care to healthy and non-healthy research participants. These duties may include measuring and recording vital signs, obtaining height/weight and BMI , recording intake and output, preparing and administering approved study medications, collecting specimens and processing, provide direction and health teaching where applicable in relation to study protocol activities, report and record any adverse events to study team. The LPN will act as a vital team member and conduct themselves in a professional manor within the Scope of Practice as outlined by the Board of Nursing. They will communicate directly to the study team and exhibit good communication skills both written and verbal and comply with regulations governing care of human subjects.
Education and Experience
License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina.
