Alabama State University, University College/TRIO Programs, invites applications for the position of Counselor/Coordinator for Student Support Services. The selected applicant will provide academic enrichment, cultural exposure, career exploration, and other academic and self development support services to students in the program. This position is also responsible for the following: planning, organizing, implementing, and assessing daily activities provided to enhance participants’ academic development; supervising full-time and part-time staff; attending annual and bi-annual training to develop new skills and enhance knowledge of academic enrichment services; preparing and submitting monthly and annual performance reports; ensuring all aspects of the grant/proposal are achieved; ensuring that the required number of students are served each budget year; monitoring student contact and services to ensure participants remain active; collecting and analyzing data to determine success and failure; maintain regular contact target schools and university administrators; scheduling and approving all activities planned for students enrolled in the program; advising staff of office procedures and policies and will perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

A Master’s degree in Education, Education Counseling, Business, Social Work or related field and 2 years of professional experience managing or working with youth of ethnic minority groups, promoting educational opportunities and financial aid are required or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
