As a member of AIR’s IT team, you will be responsible for maintaining our research and modeling development environment. As the primary technical bridge between our IT and Research development environment, you will be a key player in ensuring a secure, robust and highly available environment and work in various Linux OS. You should be energetic, bright, and focused on team dynamics and results.
The Systems Administrator will
define the standard operating systems configurations (including versions,
packages and patch levels), management tools, scripts, and operating processes.
You will also participate in the hands on management of systems; fault
resolution, capacity planning, kernel optimization and root cause analysis. You will be instrumental in maintaining a world-class systems infrastructure that is constantly evolving and expanding.
Provide 24/7 (on-call rotation) operational support for production servers and systems
Multi-task and handle multiple projects while maintaining top rate service delivery
Installation, administration, monitoring, and triage of all Linux and UNIX Servers
Maintain and assess all components necessary for server security management
Create and maintain all documentation and adhere to company standards
Work with department managers and general IT staff to analyze and resolve problem
involving Linux / UNIX Servers
The following skills, knowledge and experience are required for this position unless noted otherwise
Demonstrated support and deployment of high availability Linux, UNIX enterprise servers
Demonstrated experience in creating and troubleshooting enterprise services that necessitate
the understanding of the complex interactions between applications, server operating
systems, network protocols, and client configurations
5-7+ years of enterprise experience in multiple Linux variants (preferably RHEL5, CentOS) and other UNIX based operating systems (Free BSD, Solaris, etc.) in a large scale 24/7 environment
Experience building, configuring and optimizing server clustering and load balancing technologies
Expertise in hardening, testing, and monitoring systems against possible security threats, with exposure to PCI and SOX standards
Excellent communication and project planning skills, highly organized, and the ability to complete high level projects with little supervision
Experience with scripting/programming
Virtual systems build and management utilizing VMWare
Excellent understanding of network (Internet and Intranet) routing, RAID, TCP/IP, DNS, FTP, CIFS / NFS / FCP, SMTP, GSLB, and other related Internet protocols
Familiarity with SAN and NAS technology
RHCE certification a plus
