Engineering - Network Planner Sr
A Senior Network Planner evaluates the existing network architecture and its current utilization and provides analysis for future market demands using their knowledge of new technology, network evolution, and financial modeling. There is an immediate opportunity for an individual that possesses planning skills, with an emphasis on Data Transport architecture knowledge (via ROADM and SONET), ATM and Ethernet architecture knowledge, and data circuit design.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Will have responsibility for a geographic area regarding all inter-office transport and data switching within this boundary and/or assist in other duties outside of the area as assigned.
Planning and implementing network solutions for the assigned area.
Have a working knowledge of equipment in the network and new equipment being deployed particularly focusing on the migration to Ethernet transport and IP/MPLS switching/routing. This will include but is not limited to the following equipment:

The following are the minimum requirements for consideration:
Ten years of Telecommunications/Network Engineering experience. Understanding of industry standards, technologies, and operational requirements related to transport, and optical networks (with in depth knowledge of SONET and ROADM networks), ATM technologies, and Ethernet technologies.
Financial Analysis - Must be able to generate a business case including - executive summary, alternative solutions, cost assumptions, and recommendation.
Presentation Skills - Must be comfortable presenting and be able to provide appropriate level of materials to all audiences - executive, engineering, marketing, and customer.
Writing Skills - Must have good writing ability.
Computer Skills - Must be proficient with MS Office, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Education – Bachelor of Science Degree in Networking, Electrical, or Engineering
Additional Preferred Requirements - Master’s Degree a plus, CCNA/CCNP/CCIE certification a plus, circuit design knowledge, VoIP, Wireless, Special Services, Power, Outside Plant and programming ability. SharePoint programming is also a plus. Microsoft Visio and access Experience.
