As a member of the Covidien – Surgical Solutions Supplier Development team, the ideal candidate will support six sigma and lean proficiencies through examination and improvement of the Surgical Solutions supply base. The candidate will have a working knowledge of commodities, such as sheet metal stamping, injection molding, etc. The candidate will work on a core team to manage supplier quality and development initiatives. The team will focus on improving supplier quality, supplier on-time delivery, support supply chain strategies, etc. The candidate will lead the Supplier Development value analysis/ value engineering effort within the supply base.

Responsibilities include the following:
Partner with suppliers on productivity improvements and cost reduction opportunities Facilitate value improvement assessments and events in supply base Conduct feasibility analyses and project implementations to achieve cost savings targets Identification of top critical suppliers ensuring supplier quality requirements are met in both product and process Partner with key suppliers to pursue continuous improvement, problem solving, waste elimination, etc. Drive problem resolution process at supplier, incl. ability to lead problem solving teams Provide supplier quality oversight, analysis, and performance monitoring Focus on Critical-to-Quality definition, deployment and process control Generate metrics, corrective/preventive action plans and procedures Ensure quality standards at supply base are attained and maintained Participate and lead supplier improvement initiatives Develop and execute action plans to address opportunities in supply base Assure suppliers comply with Covidien-Surgical Devices Supplier Manual

Education: Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related field or equivalent work experience, required. Masters in Engineering, Business or related field, a plus

Required Experience:
5+ years related experience in manufacturing, quality or engineering Significant experience in manufacturing and quality operations In depth knowledge of quality systems, policies, procedures, and ability to apply them to supplier requirements Demonstrated applied knowledge of theory and application of statistical concepts Demonstrated competence in performing root cause analysis Experience with Advanced Quality Planning tools (such as FMEAs, Control Plans, PPAPs, etc), and ability to assure implementation within the supply base Ability to analyze suppliers, develop strategy for improvement using Six Sigma and Lean Applicable commodity experience, required Demonstrated ability to manage and complete multiple projects and objectives, simultaneously Demonstrated ability to manage and lead cross-functional teams Strong background in supplier quality, required Strong problem solving and analytical skills and ability to influence individuals and groups Ability to foster change, promote and implement improvement Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation and facilitation skills Experience with assessing supplier capability, applying lean mfg and value stream mapping Willingness to travel up to approximately 50%(US & some international)

Preferred Experience:
Six Sigma Black Belt or Lean certifications, preferred Experience with ISO-9001 and/or AS9100 requirements; QS9000, ISO13485, a plus
