Education: High School diploma required. BA in Psychology or Sociology preferred.
Certification: Listed as a Nursing Aide I with the North Carolina Division of Facilities Services within six (6) months of employment preferred. Completes and passes hospital skill and screening tests.
Experience: Two years of college or one year relevant experience preferred;
Relevant experience/medical terminology/computer literacy preferred.
External Job Description:
Provides patient care to psychiatric patients as directed by a Registered Nurse and according to the plan established by the treatment team. Participates in department and team treatment programs via educational groups and 1:1 interactions. This position serves pediatric and age categories.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
1. Provides patient care as delegated by the Registered Nurse.
A. Collaborates with Registered Nurse to plan and initiate appropriate interventions consistent with policies and procedures.
B. Collects and communicates psychosocial data about health status of patient/family in a systematic and continuous manner. Includes patient and family in this process.
C. Observes and reports symptoms, behaviors, and changes in patient’s condition in a timely manner.
D. Initiates one-to-one interactions with patients according to the milieu program.
E. Maintains patient rights in accordance with North Carolina’s Patients Bill of Rights.
2. Participates in department treatment program
A. Serves as an adult role model for all patients and peers.
B. Assists with milieu management of department.
C. Facilitates patient educational groups.
