Responsible for functions related to concurrent and retrospective Public Performance Measures and other data abstraction responsibilities. Will apply their expertise and knowledge of measures for all core measure processes to assist the Team Leader/QI Manager to ensure medical staff and hospital compliance with Public Performance Measures. Assists Team Leader/ QI Manager in monitoring records, practices, and documentation within the organization.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION Nursing degree or Bachelor’s in similar field, or previous experience in abstraction. Knowledge of abstraction requirements preferred.
EXPERIENCE Expertise in clinical documentation within the organization a plus.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITES: Initiates and conducts the retrospective and concurrent review and abstraction of medical records including all Public Performance Measures (Core Measures) Using the information provided by our vendor runs the monthly reports necessary to assist the Team Leader/QI Manager Works closely with Health Information Management to obtain Medical Records in a timely manner and communicates openly about discrepancies or clarifications necessary to maintain accurate and complete medical records. Maintains open clear communication with departments to allow for timely transfer of information in relation to the abstraction process and the organization’s goals as it relates to Core Measures. Upholds departmental standards for productivity, data validity, integrity, reliability and deadlines.
