The core responsibilities of the Sr. Supply Chain Planning Manager are to manage a team responsible for the short, mid, and long-term packaging planning. This job entails developing and leading planning processes that ensure business objectives are met. The Planning Group is responsible for the following tasks:
I. Planning – setting and establishing plans for each of the two production as well as ancillary co-packing locations. Plans are based on forecasts, available capacity, limitations, and total delivered cost. A deep understanding of capacity constraints will drive decisions. Close alignment with the planning and operations teams are critical to successful execution of the plans.
II. Packaging planning – establishing packaging planning processes that minimize obsolescence, increase flexibility, minimize piece costs, and ensure high service levels. Work with procurement on procurement strategies to meet goals.
III. Inventory management – manage finished goods inventory and develop run strategies that minimize production costs while keeping finished goods inventories low.
IV. Seasonal execution – flawlessly plan and manage seasonal product life-cycles to assure minimal product and packaging obsolescence.
V. New Product Introductions – work with brand development and all key stakeholders to assure the flawless execution of new products launches. Strong project management skills are needed to assure timelines for launches are met and critical path items are addressed.
VI. Maintain material master information, including creating and maintaining materials, bills of materials, and purchase orders in the SAP environment. Ensure materials transactions and procedures are within Sarbanes-Oxley guidelines.
VII. Report frequently to Sr. management. Compile and publish weekly Operations report card and monthly Operations summary.
Forecast development
I. Work with finance, sales, and sales support to develop a robust and dynamic operations forecast.
II. Work with order management team to assure aggregate packaging and plans align with wholesaler forecasts.
III. Communicate plan to all stakeholders (procurement, sales, wholesalers, operations, finance, and Sr. Management).
IV. Lead Annual, Quarterly, and Monthly forecasting reviews.
Inventory management:
I. Work with breweries to establish inventory management procedures and run strategies that minimize finished goods and assure high levels of service.
II. Develop planning process that drives adequate levels of finished beer inventory to support different sales scenarios.
III. Work with third parties to assure lot and run sizes are appropriately set to minimize finished goods inventory.
Capacity Planning
I. Develop and lead an annual capacity planning process that drives capital decisions.
II. Assure adequate security of supply is in place for, packaging, and materials.
New Product roll-out / Graphic changes
I. Lead new product introduction process and be liaison to Brand Development and Sales to assure flawless execution of new products.
II. In conjunction with the National Distribution Manager, assure wholesaler commitments are met.
III. Track, time, and execute graphics changes.
Interact with Logistics and Order Planning to assure level shipments and wholesaler needs are met.
II. Position Specific Education & Experience
Education:
B.S. or B.A. in Business Management, Supply Chain, Operations Management,
Finance, or related field.
MBA Preferred.
APICS certification a plus.
Professional Experience:
12+ years in Supply Chain at a Consumer Products company, preferably in the Food
and Beverage industry.
Demonstrated ability to build and manage a complex planning system.
Strong leadership skills with ability to innovate and lead a group through change.
Experience in working with or implementing planning software is expected.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and a high degree of comfort learning and working with networked computer systems. SAP experience a plus.
