Position Summary:
This role is responsible for overseeing and coordinating sales / demand forecasts and developing a demand plan through trending and assumption based analytics. On a continual basis demand planning impacts 23 Sara Lee plants, 6 major distribution centers, and several national businesses (including Hillshire Farm, Sara Lee, Ball Park, Jimmy Dean, and Food Service) within Sara Lee North America. It is also responsible for key customer service and supply chain related performance metrics, while also contributing to the Sales & Operations Planning process.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain a 13 week demand plan for key categories across multiple business units and distribution facilities
  • Aggregate business unit forecasts and develop rolling 27 month item level demand plans
  • Work proactively with Sales, Marketing, Demand Management and Supply Chain personnel to avoid order shortages and excess inventory
  • Monitor business unit promotions, events, and market conditions to ensure accurate demand plans
  • Develop, monitor and communicate reports on forecast accuracy to Business Unit and Supply Chain organizations, while driving continuous improvement
  • Lead the pre-consensus discussion from a demand/forecasting perspective
  • Achieve desired performance goals on key metrics such as item national and DC forecast accuracy
  • Gain consensus across the organization for the monthly category call
  • Work closely with the supply team to proactively identify issues with upcoming forecast changes
  • Ensure consensus forecast is aligned with the 27 month call for handoff to the capacity team and identify any significant changes prior to this occurring
  • Using the consensus call ensure that proper mix and DC level forecast are reflected
  • Provide detailed weekly communication of significant forecast changes and the assumptions behind them
  • Bachelor`s degree in supply chain, industrial engineering, logistics, finance, or business administration is required
  • 2-4 years of experience in demand management, planning, scheduling, or other supply chain focus is required
  • Knowledge of forecasting processes and demand analysis methodology is required
  • Demonstrated knowledge of forecasting technology or ERP systems is required
  • Must be detail oriented and capable of producing high quality information on a sustainable basis
  • High proficiency using PC based applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access) is required
  • Strong communication skills are essential
