Provides care and support to patients under the direction of the physician and/or mid-level provider.
Prepare exam rooms each morning.
Manages clinical services in accordance with office, governmental, and other regulatory standards.
Establishes and maintains system for assuring quality in clinical services, Attends educational and professional development activities to stay current with applicable rules and regulations.
Greets patients and prepares them for examination, treatment, and various procedures.
Takes patient histories and vital signs.
Screen patients for appropriate information.
Instructs patient in collection of samples and tests.
Prepares and maintains supplies and equipment for treatments, including sterilization.
Orders and maintains clinical supplies and equipment. Check expiration dates on stock and sample drugs.
Assists physician prior to and during minor surgeries, testing, treatment, and physical examination of patients.
Maintains timely flow of patients. Ensures preferences are given to patients in emergency situations.
Assists physician with hospital rounds.
Arranges/schedules patient diagnostic procedures. Routes laboratory, radiology, and ancillary testing results with appropriate patient chart to physician for review.
Screens telephone calls for referral to physician. Instructs patient and family regarding medication and treatment instructions.
Provides patient education and instruction, with physician guidance, regarding in home care, preparation for procedures, collection of samples and treatment effects. May make follow-up calls to check on patient progress.
Maintains patient and associate privacy and confidentiality.
Performs other duties as assigned.
