DC Prep’s Operations Manager is a key member of the school‘s leadership team, working closely with the campus Principal to ensure that the school is a great success. Specifically, the Operations Manager has four primary functions: school operations; human resources and team management; student enrollment; and extended learning operations. The Operations Manager reports to the Chief Operating Officer in the Home Office, with a dotted line reporting relationship with the campus Principal.

School Operations

• Manage all transportation, food-service, cleaning, and facilities maintenance third-party service providers
• Manage accounts payable, payroll, petty cash reconciliation and invoice approval systems
• Oversee site-level school meals and snack service tracking/claims process
• Oversee building maintenance and coordinate with vendors on repairs, deliveries and installations
• Responsible for all school site procurement of supplies, materials, equipment and inventory
• Monitor all internal school budgets
• Partner with campus Assistant Principal to coordinate around various school events and manage logistics for DC-CAS testing
• Monitor the school’s technology functioning and maintenance and coordinate with the Director of Operations to ensure that third-party tech-support provider is meeting the needs of school staff
• Manage school-wide duties and management as needed (lunch, dismissal, field trips, etc.)
• Serve as a member of the school leadership team

Human Resources and Team Management

• Manage day-to-day activities of designated non-instructional team members including Operations Assistants, Facilities Engineer, and Safety Guards
• On-site manager of food-service worker and School Nurse
• Enroll all full-time staff in benefits programs including health insurance, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability insurance, 403(b) retirement plan, and flexible-spending accounts
• Prepare semi-monthly payroll and submit to third-party accounting service, tracking all part-time hours and paid-time off

Supporting Student Enrollment Processes

• Track and monitor school enrollment information and work with Operations Assistants to ensure that all enrollment paperwork is accurate and on file for all enrolled students
• Coordinate with Home Office staff to ensure that all enrollment documents meet state and federal compliance guidelines and requirements

Extended Learning

• Coordinate operations for PrepEX!, DC Prep’s aftercare program, offered to students in preschool through 6th grade
• Monitor all account balances for participating families and enforce de-enrollment
• Prepare and submit monthly attendance record to the DC Department of Health and Human Services for voucher claim process

• Emotional constancy and extraordinary interpersonal skills to ensure purposeful and professional colleague relationships
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, a positive attitude, a strong work ethic, and superior ability to work in a team environment
• Excellent computer skills, including fluency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Experience with systems-building and analytical thinking
• Willingness to learn new things and eagerness to acquire new skills
• Grittiness and a sense of humor


• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
• Minimum of 2 years related work experience, including consulting, management, business, operations, military, school district, charter or other nonprofit experience
