Demonstrates the philosophy of the sponsoring Lutheran congregations, through upholding the LSS mission of “Older Adults Living Life to the Fullest”, core values and code of conduct.
Implements social, physical, intellectual, emotional and spiritual programs in accordance with the resident’s assessment and care plan.
Works as a member of and collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team with a focus on maintaining the resident as the director of their care.
Assists in the planning, development, organizing, implementing and evaluation of each resident’s activity program.
Observes resident attendance, mood, behavior and degree of involvement so that activities and each resident’s individual progress is evaluated by noting, reporting and charting resident behavior.
Prepares activities rooms/areas for activity programs, transports residents to and from activity programs and cleans up rooms/areas after activity programs.
Responds to residents based on their individual activity level and interests, ensuring the resident’s involvement is a reflection of their individual desires.
Functions as the resident’s advocate, participates in care planning and communicates to supervisor and interdisciplinary team any changes observed.
Follows infection control procedures, including proper hand washing, food storage, food service, food disposal and wearing protective clothing and equipment when handling waste and cleaning agents.
Follows all safety procedures and protocol as dictated by LSS policy, federal and state regulations and standard practice. Reports all hazardous conditions, defective equipment and accidents or incidents to the supervisor immediately.
Knowledge, Skills, Ability
Education: High School diploma or GED required.
Certification/Licensure: No Certification or Licensure required.
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of residents or customers of the organization.
Computer Operations: Basic computer skills, limited to retrieving data and data entry.
Other Required Characteristics
Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
Must have patience and be willing and able to demonstrate professional behavior in interactions with difficult situations or individuals, including residents and resident families.
Supervision: General supervision: routine duties are performed with minimal supervision; standard practices and procedures allow employee to proceed alone at routine work; occasional check of work while in progress; work is reviewed upon completion.
Reports to: Director of Activities.
Supervises: No supervisory responsibilities.
