This position will serve in the Division of Tobacco Prevention and Control as the point of contact for all outreach efforts and activities within the Division of Tobacco Prevention and Control, including integration of a communications component across all policy goal areas of the program. It will work in coordination with Bureau of CHCDP Media and Health Communication Functional Team, and other bureau areas, divisional areas and public health regions to develop and implement outreach activities, including the statewide youth movement against tobacco use; Further, it will provide consultation to local/regional (DHEC and/or SC Tobacco Free Collaborative funded) tobacco coalitions, contractors and DHEC public health regions in the areas of promotion of services, and sharing of information to ensure coordinated statewide efforts related to tobacco prevention and control. It will assist in the review of Tobacco Division materials and in the preparation of reports, fact sheets, maps and other documents. And finally, it will conduct other duties as assigned.
Minimum and Additional Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communication, Marketing, English, or a closely related field and one (1) year of professional experience working in one of the referenced fields or a bachelor’s degree and professional experience related to the development and dissemination of informational material.
Preference will be given to those with media and/or communications experience in a Public Health environment; particularly in tobacco use prevention and control.
