The Infection Preventionist is responsible for the development and implementation of an infection prevention and control program to include the surveillance, prevention and control of infection to reduce the risks of acquiring and transmitting infection among patients and employees. The Infection Preventionist provides employee health services, patient and staff education and coordinates the Infection Control Committee. The Nursing Coordinator is responsible for staff development to consist of a comprehensive education, training, orientation, and in-servicing for all employee. The Infection Preventionist / Nurse Coordinator functions in a manner consistent with the philosophy and objectives of Community Behavioral Health and the Standards of Practice of the Center for Disease Control.


Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program. BSN preferred.

Experience: One year clinical experience with a psychiatric mental health population preferred, 2 years experience in infection prevention and control practice preferred.

Licensure/Certification: Licensure and registration by the Tennessee Board of Nurse Examiners as a registered nurse. Certified by the Certification Board for Infection (CBIC) preferred. Prefer knowledge of general and psychiatric nursing principles, working knowledge of microbiology, immunology and epidemiology, age specific growth and development, limit setting, crisis and behavior management. Must have good organizational skills and ability to manage several computer databases.
