NACCO Materials Handling Group, Inc. seeks a DYNAMIC Engineer to define and shape the lift truck product of the future at their Warehouse Products Development Center in Greenville, NC.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
As a key member of the Vehicle Integration Team, the Truck Engineer satisfies the business needs, customer needs and addresses product gaps through an unwavering commitment to requirements creation, systems integration, proof of concept, and design validation.
The Truck Engineer formulates truck level requirements for achieving attribute targets and validates the design solution for production and cascades these to functional Engineering groups.
The Truck Engineer will be responsible for understanding the products current market position and determining the gaps that need to be closed in order to become the market leader in a specific attribute.
A focused effort on benchmarking competitor trucks and identifying platform level opportunities for the Leaders Strategy Committee will be key to the success of the function.
Developing strong development plans and reports (DVP & R''s), including reliability growth plans to validate the truck.
Creating strong truck level FMEA''s and driving the validation in order to reduce the high RPN values.
Lead truck level validation of requirements and provide documentation of internal customers on new product changes. Requirements:
Strong business acumen and the ability to work effectively with all levels and functions within the Company. Self-starter with strong leadership skills.
4 year degree in Engineering - Mechanical or Electrical preferred.
7-10 years experience in an Engineering Product Development environment.
Experience with development of mobile equipment preferred.
Understanding of Engineering processes and gated product development procedures is preferred.
Experience in creating and leading VDP & R''s, with a strong background in setting up application-specific duty cycles for reliability growth plans.
Creating truck level requirements documentation with experience in a requirement''s management system.
Demonstrates knowledge of vehicle systems and characteristics and their impact upon functional performance.
Understanding of truck applications and how they apply to the product requirements.
Strong knowledge of engineering methodology and principles.
Effective team skills - proven ability to function effectively in a cross-functional team.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Travel requirement - approximately 10%.
