v BA/BS degree and two or more years of work experience related to job placement or recruiting or a related field; or ten (10) or more years of related experience and/or training in employment case management; or the equivalent combination of education and experience .
v Exceptional oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions and instruct others, interpret documents, understand procedures and write reports. The incumbent must possess the ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations and continually demonstrate poise, tact and diplomacy. He/she is responsible for making frequest presentations and public speaking engagements.
v Strong process orientation: Detail oriented, logical, and methodological approach to problem solving. Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, and technical procedures. Ability to deal with complex problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations.
v Excellent organization and time management skills and the ability to provide leadership, supervision and training using positive supervisory techniques to ensure maximum productivity; demonstrated ability in organization and delegation skills. Ability to work with no supervision while performing duties.
v Current driver’s license and a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage if required to drive in the course of performing assigned duties and responsibilities.
v Professional in interactions with co-workers, participants, funding sources, the community and in appearance; the incumbent refrains from any conduct that would negatively impact the program or Paxen’s reputation.
v Must successfully pass and FBI criminal background check. A valid driver’s license and personal transportation are required for local travel between sites.

The Job Placement Specialist establishes and maintains contact with organizations, agencies and business as sources for possible job vacancies; He/she builds relationships with business and community leaders by visiting their worksites and promoting Paxen’s programs; collaborates with local workforce agencies to plan, coordinate and organize job fairs and workshops; identifies job opportunities and generates an interest in participants with employers in the community.
The incumbent provides a variety of general and technical information to participants regarding job placement services. She/he works with participants to determine their work history and qualifications; informs and counsels participants regarding job opportunities and vocational choices; and matches knowledge and abilities with job requirements. Those meeting the requirements are refered to available job postings.
He/she assigns participants to worksites and implements training plans. The Placement Specialist then conducts follow-up activities and counsels with participants as they gain work experience.
Maintains accurate participant records; performs filing and general clerical functions; tracks and reports placement activities; prepares special reports and analyses illustrating current employment trends and appropriate recommendations or conclusions. Works with staff to identify job placement issues and potential resolutions.
He/she reviews and evaluates proposed policies and procedures and make recommendations for improvements in placement services and monitors and reconciles expenditure of budgeted funds
General duties include but are not limited to: assisting with Instructor and Site Manager duties; attending required training sessions; works with the marketing department on informational flyers and brouchers to assist with the placement of participants.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
