Responds to emergency care and rescue involving potential loss of life or bodily injury; maintains control, manages and directs and or assists with patient care at the scene of a pre-hospital emergency. Applies Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation per American heart Association Standards and performs other basic emergency medical procedures. Drives and manages the ambulance vehicle while on duty, operates in a safe manner while responding to the scene and during the transport of patients.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities :
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.
1.Determines the nature and extent of illness or injury and establishes priority for required emergency care.
2.Based on assessment findings, renders emergency medical care to adult, infant and child, medical and trauma patients.

4.Provide pre-hospital emergency medical care of simple and multiple system trauma such as controlling hemorrhage, treatment of shock (hypo perfusion), bandaging wounds, and immobilization of painful, swollen, deformed extremities.
- Opening and maintaining an airway
- Ventilating patients, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation, including use of automated external defibrillators.
5.Determines within reasonable parameters illness complaint and triages to proper transport category
6.Searches for medical identification emblem as a clue in providing emergency care.
7.Responsible for administration of oxygen, oral glucose, aspirin, pt assisted medications, and activated charcoal.
8.Understands and can implement a standardized triage program such as START Triage
9.Drives urgent patients to hospital in safest manner possible.
10.While on duty shall perform a vehicle check, ensure ambulance is fueled and serviced performs minor maintenance and repairs as indicated and immediately report damages/malfunctions.
11.Performs other related duties as assigned by the Paramedic Lead.

Education: High school graduate or equivalent.
Experience: Requires registration at an EMT-B level with the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians within the past 6 months to a year. Must have Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certified. Must be certified in the Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC). Minimum of 2 years of experience as an EMT-B
Must be at least 21 years old, licensed to drive a bus, and have a good driving record. Ambulance drivers’ role is critical, so they must be dependable, resilient, calm under pressure, use sound judgment and capable of making quick decisions.

Reports directly to the Paramedic Lead, however may receive instruction from the paramedic on duty, paramedic supervisor and fire chief as needed; functions as a member of the Fire and Emergency Services Department.

Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to communicate providing verbal feedback in a professional manner. Must be able to follow and understand instructions, and react favorably in all work situations. Must have strong interpersonal skills and be mentally adaptable and flexible in dealing with a variety of people at various levels within and outside the MFA.
Be Able to process information quickly and efficiently to determine nature of complaint
Be able to gather pertinent and relative information from pt, bystanders, and scene to make rapid transport decision. Interpret vital signs to accurately determine patient’s physiological status.

Working conditions are in a Desert in an environment with extreme heat. Lift and carry a minimum of 45 lb and be able to collectively lift, carry and balance patients who weigh in excess 100lbs.
