Overview:
Plans, directs, and coordinates activities of quality and engineering group to ensure that goals or objectives of projects are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters. Along with quality and engineering duties, manager will oversee the engineering and quality group.
Responsibilities:
Promoting quality achievement and performance improvement throughout the organization.
Develop, implement, communicate and maintain a quality plan to bring the Company’s Quality Systems and Policies into compliance with quality system requirements.
Reviews project proposal or plan to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of project.
Has responsibility for assigned projects from conception to end of life.
Establishes work plan and staffing for each phase of project, and arranges for recruitment or assignment of project personnel.
Confers with project staff to outline work plan and to assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority.
Directs and coordinates activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget.
Reviews status reports prepared by project personnel and modifies schedules or plans as required.
Prepares project reports for management, client, or others.
Confers with project personnel to provide technical advice and to resolve problems.
Provides leadership for Phoenix team in cost reduction efforts.
Provides input at customer site by suggesting alternate designs to reduce manufacturing cost.
Practices strong interpersonal skills to develop customer relationships and the team concept in the Phoenix unit.
Supports Phoenix sales department in serving our customers.
Train and develop Process engineers and improve systems used by engineering group.
Oversee and balance workload. Suggests and debates alternative methods and procedures in solving problems and meeting changing market opportunities.
Review technical publications, articles and abstracts to stay abreast of technical developments in industry.
Develops and initiates standards and methods for inspection, testing and evaluation.
Investigate and implement best practices for this function.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems and may include hand-on fabrication work.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's in an engineering related field or more than 10 years related experience, or equivalent combination of both. Computer skills - proficient in basic skills including Word, Excel and Project.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations written in English. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals in English. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions in English from groups of managers, customers, or other employees.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
