Workforce Boulder County (WfBC) has an opening for an enthusiastic and self-motivated Trainer/Career Coach position with the Work First program providing training services and career counseling to Colorado Works clients to assist them in finding employment.
This position will be located in Longmont.
Examples of Duties:
•Facilitate workshops for clients on various topics such as career exploration, resume writing, interviewing skills, networking, managing work and stress, etc.
•Design curriculum to include course objectives, lesson plans, and course materials.
•Provide career counseling/coaching services to clients including assistance in resume writing, refining interviewing skills, and focusing job search efforts.
•Provide clients with individualized, client-focused career planning services to include career/vocational assessment, a variety of career exploration opportunities, and vocational evaluations.
•Assist clients in obtaining access job leads through Connecting Colorado database and making appropriate job referrals.
•Develop networks to provide clients with needed training or workplace learning opportunities for job shadowing.
•Work with Internship Coordinators to connect clients with internships, apprenticeships, work experiences, and on-the-job training opportunities.
•Prepare and manage participant files and maintain appropriate information.
•Perform data entry: maintain on-line registration for workshops; enter participant data using specialized computerized tracking systems (CBMS, Connecting Colorado, ETO, etc.) on a timely and on-going basis.
•Participate as a member of a team and attend regular meetings.
•Evaluate and monitor effectiveness of training techniques and methods.
•Coordinate activities to ensure a smooth flow of services.
•Perform other duties as assigned.
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Education, Sociology, Psychology, or closely related field.
Experience: Two (2) years of professional experience directly related to employment services, training or teaching, or in human service programs.
•Previous career counseling experience preferred.
•Ability to organize and prioritize work tasks and responsibilities.
•Ability to work well with diverse populations in a classroom setting.
•Ability to develop and update: curriculum, workbooks, training materials, PowerPoint slides, flyers, and handouts is essential.
•Strong organizational, problem-solving and communication skills.
•Ability and a willingness to develop trust and interpersonal relationships with clients.
•Good computer skills.
