High School/GED

Works under general supervision. This position performs food service work in the areas of food production, assembly, sanitation, patient care service, cafeteria, coffee bar and catering.
Meets customer service standards including interpersonal skills and professional conduct expectations. Demonstrates ability to maintain a neat clean and organized work environment as well as demonstrated working knowledge of basic food handling skills. Attitude (of Service) – Positive Attitude, adapts to change, customer focused, polite, helpful. Ability to acknowledge and interact with all customers/patients/staff to accomplish excellence service. Meets medical center’s Customer Services Standards including interpersonal communication and professional conduct expectations. Oversees ordering and inventory levels of retail and floor stock specific products. Understands and follows P&P for: proper food & equipment temperatures, hand washing, gloves, hair restraint, food storage, labeling and dating, proper cooling and reheating, and cleaning. Demonstrates the ability to safely operate and clean all equipment according to training, P&P per assigned shift. Responsible for operating the cash register and demonstrating proper cash handling procedures indicated in the policy and procedure manual. Responsible for keeping in constant communication with the main hospital to communicate business related information. Time Management – Able to accomplish job tasks in given time frames, ability to flex for workload (census). Problem Solving – Positive response to change. Able to identify opportunities and provide possible solutions. Seeks way to improve performance.
High school graduate or equivalent (GED) is required. This position requires a basic knowledge of reading, writing and math. Previous related work experience preferred.
Unicode certification preferred. Basic knowledge of reading, writing, oral communication and math in order to interpret food production sheets, task descriptions, temperature logs, cleaning lists, computer printouts, and recipes. Must demonstrate computer and money handling knowledge. Able to communicate/interface in an effective and positive manner with hospital personnel, patients, visitors, and all others. Organizational skills to prioritize daily work assignments; ability to react and perform under strict timelines and/or emergency situations, ability to exercise some judgment on work to be done. Ability to operate applicable kitchen and hospital equipment, manual dexterity to perform job requirements.
