Management of operations of assigned patient care unit(s)and service line. Assumes 24 hour accountability for planning, supervising and evaluating the care of patients and Nursing practice as well as responsibility for supervision of the Central Sterile area and Materials Management. Employees supervised include: OR charge nurses, Registered Nurses, Patient Care Technicians, Surgical Technologists, Materials Management Coordinator, Central Sterile Technician(s) and Shipping/Receiving inventory clerks.
The Service Line Manager is responsible and accountable for the provision of day-to-day leadership, management and development of the delegated service line(s) within the Center for Advanced Surgery, a busy ambulatory practice setting offering a wide variety of surgical services including outpatient as well as Major OR case overflow. The Service Line Manager is responsible for the efficient and cost-effective delivery of surgical procedures, and production of high quality patient outcomes. Shall cooperate with, support and participate in organizational and department goals and objectives to assure that those goals and objectives are achieved. Shall serve as "Manager on-call" and, in that capacity, shall be accountable for managing the entirety of the Perioperative Services Department and/or the Center for Advanced Surgery.
The Service Line Manager/CAS is accountable to the Associate Director of the Center for Advanced Surgery.

Preferred Education / Experience
BSN plus 36 months experience in either OR/Central Sterile/Materials Management in an acute care hospital setting is required. Satisfactory experience in at least one area of nursing to which person will be responsibile is required. Prior management exp. pref. Previous or current experience in Service Line Management is preferred.
