Responsibilities

NBC Universal has an immediate opening for a Studio Systems Support Engineer to join the Operations and Technical Services Division (OTS). Qualified candidates must be able to diagnose and repair to card/component level all equipment involved in the recording, postproduction, and airing of state-of-the-art television programming. This includes cameras, video production switchers, routers, terminal/processing gear, and fiber optic transmission technology. This position also supports all audio production equipment including microphones, audio mixers, effects, editing, and distribution equipment. In addition, applicants must be familiar with popular HD/SD analog/digital video and audio standards to ensure that programs produced meet appropriate technical standards for transmission on the various NBC Universal distribution channels. Experience supporting non-linear editing systems such as AVID Symphony/ISIS, EVS audio/video servers, and file based transcoding and transmission workflows is highly desirable. Qualified candidates will have experience in Information Technology as it applies to television production and distribution systems with the ability to configure and diagnose problems with IP based networks. This position requires the ability to perform systems support duties in a time sensitive, client driven, close- to-air environment. The applicant must be able to work variable hours, including occasional overtime as required by the production schedule of the show productions being supported.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Practical experience in diagnosing and repairing card/component level equipment involved in the recording, postproduction, and airing of state-of-the-art television programming. • Hands on repair and diagnostic experience with cameras, video production switchers, routers, terminal/processing gear, and fiber optic transmission technology • Familiar with popular HD/SD analog/digital video and audio standards
