Under indirect supervision, manages women's health care, focusing particularly on pregnancy, childbirth, the post partum period, care of the newborn, and the family planning and gynecologic needs of women. Practice within the health care system and perform consultation, collaborative management, or referral, as indicated by the health status of the client. Practice in accord with the Standards for the Practice of Midwifery, as defined by the American College of Nurse-Midwives. The UNM Midwifery Division is seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join our well established midwifery practice. We provide full scope in-patient care at the University Hospital pavilion and clinical care in 6 sites on campus and in the community. Midwives in our division care for a diverse population and are active in education, professional development and clinical research. Candidates would provide high quality evidence-based midwifery care, participate in professional development and research and offer outstanding patient and provider education. The ideal candidate would have midwifery experience, speak Spanish, and be available to work a flexible schedule and nights, function well on a team and have stellar interpersonal and communication skills. Master's degree; at least 1 year of directly related experience which may include practicum. A New Mexico Department of Health CNM License (or eligible). A valid license that meets the New Mexico Board of Nursing's requirement to practice as a registered nurse in New Mexico (or eligible). Participation in the Certificate Maintenance Program with the American Midwifery Certification Board (or eligible).
- 3 years recent midwifery experience with both in-patient and out-patient * Fluent in Spanish * Experience and/or interest in research and education *Available to work a flexible schedule including nights *Active in local and national professional midwifery organizations *Knowledgeable with the electronic medical record system

Additional requirements for this position:
Candidates for this position must be eligible for employment as verified by the US Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General (OIG) and the Government Services Administration (GSA); those individuals on the OIG/GSA Exclusion Lists will not be considered for hire. Once hired, periodic checks will be made for eligibility of continued employment must be credentialed per UNM HSC policies and procedures if billing for services under Medicare/Medicaid. May be required to submit to annual TB and rubella screening. UNM will provide Hepatitis vaccination, candidate may decline vaccination through declination form or may provide record of vaccination from previous employer. Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check. CPR Certified Subject to UNM credentialing process; must maintain credentialed status.
