This is a substitute (as-needed) position, with multiple shifts available.
General Purpose: The purpose of this position is to provide for the health, safety, and welfare of the consumers with disabilities in their homes and in the community, and to implement the consumer’s Individual Plan. Duties include administration of medication, attending to personal needs, implementing Individual Service and Support Plans, completing necessary documentation, maintaining the cleanliness of the house and planning and conducting community activities for the consumer.
High School diploma or equivalent
2 Years of College or 2 Years of Relevant Experience Preferred
Demonstrated skill in working with adults with developmental disabilities in a residential setting
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
Ability to lift 50 lbs
Possession of or ability to obtain the following: Basic First Aid Training CPR Training Medication Administration Certification
Valid driver’s license and driving record to comply with Imagine! driving policy
Starting pay is $11/hour
Specifics: We are currently hiring new staff as “sub” counselors. Sub counselors will be trained at up to five houses, in one of three clusters of houses (behavioral, medical or community). Sub counselors will not have any scheduled hours to start, and must be available to cover hours at a site as needed. This sub base is considered to be the first step toward part-time or full-time employment. When part-time or full-time hours become available, we will look first to our sub base to fill those hours.
Cluster Specific Considerations: Community sites- For the community sites we are looking for individuals who have experience teaching and supporting others, and especially those who have experience doing advocacy work. We are also looking for someone with the following traits: someone who is interested in working with a higher functioning population; someone who is willing to mainly be a support to others (as opposed to doing things for others); someone who is inspired to help others learn new skills and develop independence; someone who is capable of working independently; someone who is interested in working with a variety of people.
