Under the general direction of the Vice President of Human Resources and the direct supervision of the Director of Human Resources and within established hospital and departmental policies and procedures and applicable federal and state employment laws, the incumbent performs the following functions:
In conjunction with the Director of Human Resources, will respond to questions from both employees and managers regarding policies, procedures and practices. Recommends solutions for employee relation issues and ensures consistent treatment of employees throughout the department and organization. Provides counseling regarding progressive disciplinary procedures and participates in employee counseling when necessary. Develops and maintains sources of recruitment for assigned positions through the coordination of the Director of Human Resources. Coordinates advertising for assigned positions with the Director of Human Resources for processing on an as needed basis. Acquires, screens and interviews candidates (both internal and external) for assigned positions. Conducts reference checks to determine validity and quality of experiences related to the requirements of the position. Collaborates with hiring manager on final decision. Collaborates with Department Director and/or Manager on starting rate of pay. Makes final offer of employment and notifies candidates who are not selected for employment. Ensures hiring managers notify internal candidates who are not selected for employment. Prepares and processes new hire and transfer paperwork to include offer letters, makes arrangements for pre-placement physical examination and schedules attendance at Hospital Orientation and Department of Education Orientation within 24 hours of verbal offer of employment. Ensures new employees submit required employment information, to verify applicable licenses and to preview benefits, performance evaluation schedule and other pertinent information. Prepares and processes all necessary employment termination paperwork. Meets with terminating employees to review pertinent information and to gather information about their employment relationship and reason for leaving the organization. Coordinates exit interview surveys with all employees except those that are terminated for cause. Communicates response information to Director of Human Resources or others as appropriate. Acts as customer service representative for all services provided by the Human Resources Department. Answers questions regarding Human Resources policies and procedures, benefits plans and educational opportunities. Confers with the Director of Human Resources on issues outside the norm. Provides all levels of employees with training and education based on needs of assigned departments and organizational needs. Identifies needs and collaborates training with Director of Human Resources and Director of Organizational Development.
Education: • Bachelor Degree in appropriate Human Resources related major or equivalent experience preferred.
Experience: • Minimum of two years experience in Human Resources related administrative activities in a business or healthcare setting. • Experience working with a human resources information system, including data entry and report generation preferred.
