There is a regular, full-time position available as a Senior Development Officer, reporting to the Senior Director of Development. Responsibilities include traveling extensively to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward major gift and planned giving prospects in a defined geographical region to increase general research and endowment funds; working in conjunction with the Senior Director of Development to plan overall fundraising strategies that incorporate and coordinate board activities, individual fundraising and outreach efforts; recruiting and managing volunteers to lead fundraising efforts; planning and executing small cultivation events within the assigned markets; overseeing stewardship of current and lapsed major gift donors; using The Raiser’s Edge (training available) to track all contacts and activity; fostering internal collaborations that support and strengthen development strategies; working collaboratively with other development officers to support general fundraising and public awareness efforts; and supervising administrative staff.
Required Skills
Ability to communicate effectively with members of the Board of Trustees and other senior leaders
Outstanding interpersonal and community relations skills
Ability to communicate and work effectively within a diverse community with a high level of confidentiality
e xperience with The Raiser’s Edge is helpful, but not required
Required Experience
Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years fundraising for major and planned gifts and demonstration of a progressively successful track record in Development positions.
