West Virginia University Office of Information Technology is seeking a LAN Analyst/Network Engineer (Professional Technologist 1) to work in the LAN Services unit. This position will independently monitor server and system logs and generate reports from this information that will be provided to senior staff for evaluation; alert Senior LAN Services staff members of problems detected; investigate and analyze problems; follow direction, both verbal and written, to correct system failures and performance issues; assist in determining the cause(s) of unsatisfactory performance. Tools include but are not limited to System Center Operations Manager, Dell OpenManage, VMware Virtual Center, Symantec Administration Console and Active Directory Users and Computers.
A Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent combination of education, work experience in related areas, and/or applicable certifications, in any combination, may be substituted in lieu of the degree requirement. Applicants should have 1-2 years of experience in Windows Active Directory and Windows Servers, and 1-2 years of experience in a related area of microcomputer support, data communications or networking.
Salary will be competitive for the State of West Virginia Higher Education and commensurate with qualifications.
