INDUSTRIAL HYGIENIST (Experienced or Entry-Level)

BUREAU VERITAS NORTH AMERICA has a vacancy for the following position:

INDUSTRIAL HYGIENIST (Experienced or Entry-Level)

JOB SUMMARY

Conduct investigations related to hazardous materials in buildings and other occupational and environmental hazards. Provide oversight and management of contractors performing asbestos, lead-based paint, mold and other hazardous remediation.

This is an excellent opportunity for entry-level or experienced candidates, who possesses a college degree and are interested and motivated to perform high quality work for a leader in the area of health, safety and environment quality.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Plan and conduct investigations and remedial activities related to hazardous materials in buildings

Determine technical method of investigation best suited to project requirements;

Collect samples related to project (air, lead paint, asbestos, mold, etc);

Prepare, coordinate, and operate the equipment necessary to complete the field investigations; and

Respond to client requests and concerns promptly.

EDUCATION AND/OR WORK REQUIREMENTS

College Degree with emphasis in science.

Experience in Industrial Hygiene and Indoor Air Quality is helpful, but we are willing train interested and motivated candidate who possesses a college degree.

Good verbal and written communications skills.

Ability to use personal computers and related software.

Valid driver’s license and auto insurance in order to travel to work sites.

The following skills are preferred; although, we are willing train interested and motivated candidates:

Experience in conducting investigations and remedial activities related to mold, lead-based paint, and/or asbestos.

Current State of Hawaii Asbestos and/or Lead Based Paint certifications.

Knowledge and experience writing project specifications is a plus.

Knowledge of Federal and State of Hawaii Regulations.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The employee will work in a variety of indoor/outdoor environments which may include commercial buildings and manufacturing facilities.

The employee may be required to bend, lift over 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces or areas with difficult access.

The employee may be exposed to inclement weather such as hot, cold, and wet conditions.

The employee may work in areas that contain hazardous substances and/or air pollution and may require the use of personal protective equipment and respiratory protection gear (air purifying respirator, self-contained breathing apparatus).

Travel, to various work sites, will be required.
