Bachelor's Degree required

  • Responsible for the management, establishment and maintenance of data reporting systems and data bases in the Performance Improvement (PI) Department. This position will maximize staff resource efficiency, ensure data integrity, support LIHN, CHS, TJC and other Hospital initiatives, as well as enhance the PI planning and decision-making process.

    Primary responsibilities include oversight of PI data staff to ensure efficient workflow processes and effective/appropriate use of staff resources. Supervises all data entry activities, database and report development, to maintain the local area computer network and ensure data backup systems are in place and consistent with policy. Organizes and supervises the department data and support activities required to assure compliance with contractual requirements for the Hospital's Managed Care Program and minimize adverse fiscal impact. Develops and prepares data collection tools and reporting formats to facilitate the analysis of clinical, operational and business issues used by the Department managers for Program modification. Participates in Performance Improvement teams and/or assists with data/statistical validation, analysis, presentation and reporting as necessary.

    Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Nursing or other health-related field required. Masters Degree in Business or Health Care Administration preferred. Certification in Quality (such as CPHQ), Project Management, or computer skills is desirable.

    Strong data analytical, validation and interpretation skills required; demonstrates knowledge and prior experience with data submission to TJC, Federal, State and PRO; working knowledge of PI principles, statistical and project management tools required (i.e., Pareto and Control Charts, Correlation Studies); working knowledge and application of clinical, financial, statistical and healthcare computer systems required; proficient in database, spreadsheet, statistical, graphic and word processing software applications with ability to prepare statistical reports with attention to detail required. Two or more years of recent hospital or clinically based supervisory/management experience in utilization and/or quality management strongly desired.
