SUMMARY A Database Developer Analyst performs project analysis and programming services to modify existing programs for internal and external customers They work with project managers variable print developers and web developers to successfully execute customer solutions REPORTS TO Programming Supervisor REQUIRED SKILLS Microsoft SQL Server 2005 2008 C or VBNET Microsoft Office product suite (Excel Outlook Access) SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) EDUCATION andor EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and 0 – 10 years experience ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Solid understanding or USPS requirements for mail automation SACS and NCOALink Process client data with third party software Presort client data IAW USPS requirements using presort software Collect specifications from project managers and program applications that support the overall customer program Work with customer supplied data Modify database including creating tables finding the proper indexes and primary keys based on their entities and relations (normalization) Work with project managers to select orders from a database in order to bill a customer Query retrieve manipulate and display data for the purpose of internal or ad hoc reporting as requested by the customer or project managers Maintain Microsoft Windows based applications by reviewing and modifying code to enhance the usability and performance of applications and tools that gain greater efficiency and quality Provide end user support to personnel that utilize programmed applications Provide technical documentation on applications including flow charts specification and end user documentation Participate in the testing of programs and systems to ensure proper functionality SKILLS REQUIRED TO SUCCESSFUL Ability to effectively communicate orally and in written communication to the correct audience Translate technology requirements from internal personnel to external customer and vice versa Become familiar with basic creative design and layout as it relates to project and processes Learn internal software applications as required by accounting and production departments Learn comprehend and utilize web and data development concepts to coordinate the development of technical solutions Ability to collect the necessary information from others to make decisions regarding project and processes Work with a variety of personalities and skill sets across Units and or departments Handle frequent interruptions yet refocus on the task at hand or determine the most important tasks Adapt to a fast paced low stress and changing environment Take responsibility to find alternative approaches to solve or troubleshoot issues Exhaust available resources to find solutions Ensure information can be found easily and tasks are completed on time Pay attention to details Maintain accuracy and quality MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES No supervisory or management responsibilities
