Duties & Responsibilities: The Georgia Department of Public Health is seeking a Data Manager for Georgia Medical Monitoring Project in the HIV/AIDS Epidemiology Section.
The Georgia Medical Monitoring Project (MMP) is designed to produce nationally representative data on people living with HIV/AIDS who are receiving care in the United States through data collection from matched face-to-face interviews and medical record abstractions.
Under the leadership of MMP Team Leader, the MMP Data Manager will perform data management and data quality assurance activities for the MMP, including managing morbidity and risk behavior data including uploading interviews, extracting abstractions, and transmitting data sets, encrypted with PGP, to CDC through the Data Coordinating Center (DCC) as scheduled and required, while also develop data management protocols for the MMP project in cooperation with CDC. The Data Manager will also conduct database matching and merging using SQL, LinkPlus, and other software; dataset preparation using SAS and other software; statistical data analysis; assistance with preparing scientific reports and presentations. Data manager will also be responsible for analyzing information needs, problems and opportunities to help in the development of policies and procedures for improved data management.
The successful candidate will also have strong verbal and written communication skills particularly over the telephone.
Minimum Training & Experience: Completion of a Masters degree in Public Health or a closely related field AND two years of experience performing epidemiologic work or work in a closely related field.
Agency Specific Qualifications and/or Preferred Qualifications: Completion of a Masters degree in Epidemiology or Statistics or Computer Science and or a closely related field AND two years of experience analyzing data, using statistical software packages, writing reports, and providing training and consultation on these topics.
This position also requires proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Microsoft Excel and Access, as well as data analytical software, including SAS/STATA
In addition to meeting the above qualifications, preference will be given to applicants who possess two or more of the following:
Two years of SAS programming experience or Base SAS certification
Previous experience using relational databases such as Access
Previous experience with managing, matching, and merging databases
Experience in eHARS
Experience with data quality assurance
Masters in Epidemiology
