Project Program Management Advisor

The Project Program Management Advisor will oversee the management of all projects within each assigned program and step in as appropriate to ensure that each project is being driven to successful completion.

Job Responsibilities:
Deliver projects within definitive estimate range. Responsible for tracking and monitoring the progress to ensure each project is delivered within budget and estimate. Escalate to the Program Manager when budget is trending beyond variance and/or is over expected variance.

Responsible for setting the initial schedule and managing the project team to deliver to that schedule. This includes ensuring the resources required are identified by the resource leader, those resources are allocated to the project according to the schedule, and monitoring progress to ensure project teams are progressing and delivering toward their expected delivery dates.

Escalate to the Program Manager when a project is unable to be scheduled according to the Program Manager, Client Executive and Customer needs.

Drive the requirements gathering process, functional specification process, technical specification process, testing process, and installation process for each assigned project to ensure that the schedule is met and sufficient quality is achieved.

Communicate, in a timely and effective manner, the status, needs, and next steps of all assign projects to the project team. This includes hand-offs from one team to the next, status of code in release libraries, customer signoff, and other necessary milestones.

Responsible for ensuring all project documentation is present, acceptable, and maintained. This includes ensuring scope is well documented and agreed upon with all parties, appropriate signoffs are received and stored, all documents required are present and stored. In addition, responsible for ensuring documented are maintained and accurate during all project phases.

Communicate, in a timely and effective manner, the status of all assigned projects to the Program Manager on a regular basis, alerting the Program Manager at the earliest possible time of any major issues, scope creep or delays on the projects.

Understand the details of assigned projects in order to effectively drive issues to resolution.

Conform to all defined processes for each program as defined by the Program Manager.

Responsible for reviewing all estimates to ensure estimates are appropriate, reasonable, and agreeable.

Responsible for monitoring and tracking EAC and the implementation of mitigation plan when outside of expected variance.

Qualifications

Required Skills:
Solid capability in the nine PMI PMBOK knowledge areas to the extent necessary to effectively manage or support projects.

Demonstrates solid proficiency in the specific tools that are available and required as part of the company's project management information system (PMIS).

Solid ability to identify, develop and quantify any required corrective action plans.

Solid ability to ensure that effective project controls are in place to monitor project or program performance.

Solid capability at providing effective performance reporting for the customer and Dell in order to monitor the progress of the project.

Solid understanding of the links and dependencies between the projects and other in-flight projects and/or business initiatives.

10+ years of relevant project management experience or equivalent combination of work experience and education.

Desired Skills:
Current PMP designation is preferred but not required.

Previous insurance industry or financial services industry experience preferred.

LOMA designations including FLMI and ACS are preferred but not required.

Education Requirements:
Bachelor Degree required; Masters Degree preferred.
