Overall Purpose

Drive fraud P&L reduction whilst balancing the customer experience

Management of specific Fraud type

Analysis to support strategy and policy definition by Senior Portfolio Manager

Articulation of fraud policy and prioritization to various operational execution arms

Documentation of fraud policy for operational execution arms

Liaison point for Group Fraud, US Partnership teams, and operational execution arms within relevant SBUs

Monitoring of specific fraud targets and P&L impact

To provide commentary for performance packs

Key Accountabilities

Fraud Strategy Development and Evaluation (40%)

Construction of short term and long-term plans with associated benefits of strategies that are to be developed to reduce fraud across the portfolio.

Evaluate, analyze and leverage a range of statistical and written information in order to recommend, review and implement decisions that will have a positive impact on the P&L for these.

Conduct analysis of current and historic data (e.g. authorizations, write off data) to keep our systems at the cutting edge of fraud detection.

Conduct regular evaluation of portfolios from both an operational and financial benefit perspective. Suggest changes and improvements as necessary.

Provide necessary support and guidance to new products and services from a fraud perspective.

Develop & support business cases for a variety fraud initiatives.

Performance Tracking (30%)

Performance monitoring at a granular level using both data analysis tools and manual file review

Ad-hoc analysis to support strategy definition or tactical response

Production of monthly commentaries to explain Fraud performance and assess against Fraud execution plan

Ad-hoc analysis to support variance explanation

Champion/challenger tracking

Stakeholder Management (30%)

Manage effective relationships with key stakeholders throughout the Business

Assist in the day to day management of Partner Portfolios and the onboarding of new Partners

Assist in the day to day management of customers experience as it relates to the management of Fraud

Technical Skills/Competencies

Analytical ability - pro-actively keep their own specialist skills and knowledge at leading edge standard in order to fully fulfill their role. Must have a clear understanding of data analysis, preferably using a standard statistical package such as SAS (preferred) or SPSS

Strong influencing skills

Ability to grasp complex phenomena (multiplicity of drivers in a non deterministic environment)

Thought leadership

Financial Management and Accounting

Communications including platform presentations, negotiation and influencing



Proficiency in performing data analysis, preferably via a standard statistical package such as SAS (preferred) or SPSS

Solid knowledge of all product line(s) including Credit Cards, Deposits, and Prepaid

Strong knowledge of Portfolio dynamics

Strong knowledge of Customer Experience as it relates to the management of Fraud

Knowledge of Card Association regulations and guidelines - particularly related to Fraud


Knowledge of Barclays Group polices, structures, and interfaces (internal only)

Knowledge of Risk Management and Corporate Governance

Knowledge of the Regulatory Environment (Identify Theft, Money Laundering, Financial Crimes)

Understanding of operational processes impacting Fraud ( from sales to recoveries)

Basic knowledge of project management tools and techniques

Strong understanding of the economy, market and customer trends affecting the business
