The EFI Senior Advanced Manufacturing Engineer will oversee outsourced engineering and build efforts with our outsourced partners and the execution of NPI (New Product Introduction) projects internally. Duties will include working on engineering activities for Projects in Development and Newly Released Products. Coordinate with the engineering team and members of the various business functions charged with ensuring that product specifications are clearly communicated to and implemented, including Supply Chain, Manufacturing, NPI Sourcing, and Fulfillment Sourcing.
Attend core team meetings, representing the Wide Format Business as the point of contact with respect to supporting project approvals and identifying action items related to project execution to avoid adverse impact to cost, quality, or delivery of product
Work with the Outsourced Companies engineering and the operating teams to ensure our product Specification is being meet throughout the entire development and build process. 30 – 40 % travel required
Work with the engineering and the operating teams to understand the various NPI and requisition based changes being introduced
Determine the impacts to manufacturing lines, sourcing teams, and/or overall plant, to identify gaps, and to lead efforts to address and close these gaps
Develop prerelease documentation and instructions with the Operations Manufacturing group, Shop Operations, and Shop Quality teams to ensure manufacturing readiness, manufacturing instruction creation, capacity planning, Make / buy analysis
Communicate progress, status, and issues to the business unit
Aid in the designing of tooling, fixtures, and workstations essential for new process introduction to the production cells early on during the product development cycle. Provide "Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA)" feedback to design engineers during prototyping. Conduct/ Participate in cross-team "Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA)" to proactively mitigate failure modes in both process and design.
Equipment/process technology roadmap for cost savings initiatives.
Utilize lean six sigma practices to define the work method for a specific production area consisting of several work cells. Lead cross-functional teams to identify, prioritize and execute projects to enhance the product flow through work cells.
Ensure new production processes operate within quality metric targets for our Outsourced Partners and Internal builds.
Manage Engineering Change Orders (ECO) that affect the targeted manufacturing processes, including updates to routings and work instructions.
Ability to travel up to 30 – 40 % of the time to investigate alternative manufacturing processes or support cost savings initiatives, (strong background in Chinese manufacturing a plus)
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university (or a High School Diploma / GED or a minimum of 10 years of manufacturing experience)
Experience with MS Office or Similar
Project Management experience
Six Sigma Green Belt Certification
Experience Facilitating Kaizens
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Experience using Tools: 5 Tools Required; (7 Tools Preferred) Lean Manufacturing Statistical Analysis Software GD&T VSM DFM pFMEA dFMEA Structured Problem Solving
Strong Project Management skills
Experience in manufacturing / sourcing including manufacturing engineer, quality engineer, materials engineer, and advanced manufacturing engineer
Excellent written / oral communication skills, influencing and interpersonal skills
Understanding of the Lean Six Sigma tools
Ability to work with a variety of teams including both the shop floor and salary exempt personnel
