Associate Director, Print Investment

Reports to: Director/Group Director, Print Investment

The following are the responsibilities and duties of the Associate Director, Print Investment. This is not an all-inclusive list and will vary by account assignment.

Role The Associate Director is responsible for managing the Print investment function for the Agency(s) clients. The Associate Director provides the leadership on each piece of business. The Associate Director supervises a staff, including Supervisor(s), Analyst(s), and Assistant Analyst(s).

  • Ensure solid client, Strategy group, and vendor relationships and ensure needs are being met
  • Supervise and coordinate the efforts of the various teams associated with the print process
  • Manage the negotiation, presentation, and implementation of print advertising
  • Develop buy highlights presentations and present to clients.
  • Communicate with management on account and group status
  • Manage staff, oversee/conduct performance evaluations, handle personnel issues with the Director/Group Director, and foster employees’ development
Strategy and Plan Development:
  • Develop strategies and tactics based on changing conditions in the marketplace for all aspects of print media
  • Participate in Checkmate sessions. Work with colleagues in Strategy and/or the Strategic Business Units, or independently, in each of the phases:
  • Understand – provide insights into consumers, brand, product and media
  • Design – identify behaviors, barriers, drivers and apertures; develop communication strategies
  • Create – create specific tangible executional ideas
  • Capitalize – bring activity schedule to life; encompass negotiation strategies and implementation of the buy
  • Meet with publishing personnel regularly to seek innovative and unique opportunities
  • Develop integrated opportunities and oversee the various communications programs
  • Oversee development of planning costs
  • Coordinate the negotiations of print media for agency clients
  • Facilitate good relations and flow of ideas with the sales management contacts
  • Partner with the Group Director and Director in the negotiation of Publishing House contracts

Media Expertise:
  • Meet with sales representatives and vendors
  • Keep abreast of industry trends (trade press, seminars, current events, etc.) that may impact a client’s business
