In an effort to support our large federal client, we are looking for a talented Technical Writer. This role will start in Columbia, but will quickly move to Baltimore, MD. This position offers comprehensive benefits, competitive pay and a great working environment.

The Technical Writer is responsible for the development of a technical articles, reports, brochures, and/or manuals for documentation for wide variety of uses. The Technical Writer coordinates the display of graphics and the production of the document, ensuring the content is of high quality and confirms with standards.

The Technical Writer/Editor develops and review technical documentation on systems, software, and business/technical requirements using CMS ILC standard templates.

Has experience in developing user manuals, guides, courses, and/or teaching materials for all phases of IT.

Demonstrates very good oral and written communication skills.

Gathers and assembles information pertaining to the subject matter; organizes and condenses materials.

Works independently or as part of a team.

Required Skills

Skilled at imparting technical information to technical and non-technical personnel

Knowledge of IT practices and documentation requirements

Knowledge of various word processing and geographical presentation software

Extensive experience with general and specific documentation practices and standards

Extensive knowledge of MS/Word (formatting, table of contents, headers, footers)

Experience with Visio, MS/Excel and MS/Powerpoint

Experienced and knowledgeable in the use of automated tools to prepare, update, store and distribute technical and program documentation

Ability to multi-task, be extremely organized, work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, and be very detail oriented

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Required Experience

4 years of experience in the field of technical writing with at least 2 years experience editing documents

BA or BS in Business, Finance, Management, Communications, English, Information Systems or comparable field.
