The Systems Engineer is responsible for deploying and supporting the company’s information systems with a specific focus on infrastructure.
Establishes information systems by planning and executing the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of PC and server hardware, software, and operating and system management systems.
Maintains system performance by performing system monitoring and analysis, applying patches, and performance tuning; troubleshooting system hardware, software, networks and operating and system management systems; escalating application problems to vendor.
Secures information systems by developing system access, monitoring, control, and evaluation as well as completing back-ups.
Upgrades information systems by conferring with vendors and services; developing, testing, evaluating, and installing enhancements and new software.
Works with business units to select, implement, and maintain systems relevant to the operations of the company
Skills & Knowledge:
The candidate must have at least 5 years of experience with supporting systems, industry certifications are a plus.
Microsoft Windows Server 2003 and 2008 (certification is preferred)
Microsoft Exchange (2010 preferred)
Microsoft Active Directory (based on Server 2008)
SANs (EMC preferred)
An understanding of networking
Experience with scripting a plus
Experience with Microsoft SQL
Musts haves: Windows Server 2008, Exchange 2010, Active Directory (strong knowledge), SAN (EMC preferred), Virtualization - VMware, SQL exposure
This position will be managing over 100+ server and 150+ workstations environment. We need someone with experience with GPO’s (group policy objects) at a high level. We need a Sys. Engineer with enough high level knowledge to have designed and implemented a solution to a problem: installed a SAN or implemented an email archiving solution, led an upgrade project (from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010, for example) etc.
