Role: Market Vice President-West Coast
Location: California - to be located in Torrance, CA
The Market VP of Humana's West Coast Market will be responsible for the expansion of Medicare membership and profitability growth in the California market. Humana has established market operations in Arizona at this time. As a result, the candidate for this position should have experience in all aspects of health plan operations, but especially in the areas of expansion, risk groups, HMO's, network development and medical management.
The Market VP works with the Market President to develop dynamic strategic long-term and annual plans for the company and its customers, achieving targeted financial goals; takes full accountability for achievement of results. In addition, the person who is in this role will understand the competitive environment, including Humana's marketplace, industry, competition and regulatory environment, as well as understanding how the components of Humana’s business model (i.e. strategy, finances, and operations) interrelate to make Humana competitive in the marketplace. The Market VP will also be responsible:
To manage the negotiation, implementation and operations of Medicare, premium based contractual relationships.
To manage relationships and set strategy with provider partners to grow membership profitably for all lines of businesses
To provide value to provider partners benefiting both providers and Members
Understand Humana’s business processes, systems, tools, regulations and structure and how they interrelate to provide products and services that create value for Humana customers, consumers and key stakeholders.
Forge and leverage strong interpersonal alliances, and build support individually and/or at all levels within an organization. This role needs to build collaborative, customer-focused relationships characterized by mutual respect, understanding, loyalty, and trust.
Identify, select, and retain diverse talent, capitalizing on associates competencies, ideas and passion. This position will be responsible for aligning talent with key components of the business strategy, creating value for all stakeholders; and assessing, developing and rewarding talent, encouraging progression throughout the enterprise.
Motivate and inspire associates to higher levels of engagement, productivity and personal achievement. To do this, the Market VP will need to provide regular, timely guidance/feedback to encourage developmental opportunities for associates, who are both direct and indirect reports.
Demonstrate the ability to achieve results, outperform the competition, and win through continuous upgrading of ones own and others work performance. Takes the initiative to help others develop and enhance their capability to contribute to Humana.
Act as the face of Humana in the community and within the company. As a result, this role is responsible for telling the Humana story both internally and externally; inspiring extraordinary results by engaging others, leading change, valuing diversity, and shaping the culture to support a high performance environment.
8+ years experience in health plan operations
An understanding of market management, to include contracting, sales, clinical, community visibility, and integration with other company processes and functional areas.
MBA, MHA or other graduate degree preferred
