We are seeking to hire an SVP Corporate Actuarial. As a member of the Finance Operation leadership team, reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the SVP Corporate Actuarial provides leadership and direction for the Corporate Actuarial Division. Oversees the valuation, modeling, capital management, risk and reinsurance activities of the Company and its affiliates. Monitors enterprise capital needs and resources, and recommends and executes selected capital raising initiatives. Provides independent perspective on SBU product strategies and pricing approaches to help balance short term competitive demands with long term financial soundness.
Provides general management for the Corporate Actuarial Division. Directs the planning, organizing, leading and controlling of all Division activities. Develops and monitors the Division budget. Provides leadership and direction to direct reports and oversees all Division HR functions.
Oversees the development of all valuation assumptions and reserve methodologies. Oversees the regular valuation processes to report reserves in a timely and accurate fashion. Communicates reserve issues to other members of senior management and SBU's. Resolves differing reserve perspectives and makes final decision when needed.
Oversees the development of projection assumptions and methodologies for assigned product lines. Oversees the production of IFS inputs to the planning process. Oversees development and use of other models in support of cash flow testing, ALM processes, economic capital calculations, and any other new process needed. Oversees related financial analyses to understand and explain product performance for assigned product lines.
Partners with the product areas to establish assumptions and models and to provide independent perspective on product strategies and pricing techniques.
Oversees development and execution of enterprise capital management program, including responsibility for the Company's economic capital program. Participates on Enterprise Risk Management Committee.
Oversees reinsurance operations of the Company. Partners with the product areas to establish reinsurance strategies and programs to mitigate risk consistent with the enterprise risk tolerances.
Monitors capital needs and resources. Evaluates capital raising options, makes recommendations and executes selected transactions. Establishes capital allocation process among insurance product lines to facilitate financial reporting and evaluation of product line profitability.
Oversees the investigation of profit and financial problems and contributes to achievement of risk-adjusted revenue and product line profitability goals with minimum adverse effect on third parties.
Oversees the determination of the expected financial impact, reviews and assesses product line ability as they respond to new challenges brought about by a new pending regulatory environment, including state and federal reform.
Remains current on new insurance products, procedures and regulatory reforms by actively participating in industry professional groups and various Company and state-sponsored committees.
Directs and oversees the Corporate actuarial student program.
Develops and maintains an engaged and accountable workforce.
Develops and maintains a fair and equitable work environment. Fellowship in the Society of Actuaries (FSA), plus a seasoned actuarial background
Ability to incorporate actuarial expertise with the creativity necessary to effectively design and critique new products
Ability to interface with regulators and trade associations regarding evaluating capital requirements and other regulatory issues
