The Treasury Department's purpose is to enhance Cargill's competitiveness and its ability to be the partner of choice by delivering world class financial and risk management products and services. Our mission is to deliver imaginative and value creating solutions in: credit access and relationship management, funding and foreign exchange, cash management and operations, financial consulting and analysis.

This position is responsible for performing the day-to-day North America accounting activities for the Treasury funding and service desks, and the joint Treasury & Emerging Markets Trading (EMT) initiative. The position collaborates frequently with personnel located in other regions as well as with Operations and Trading.

Principal Accountabilities:
30% Execute daily accounting activities for North America funding and service desk activity, and the joint Treasury & Emerging Markets Trading (EMT) activity. This includes pricing and the daily reconciliation of the general ledger (Summit) to the trading system (IRIS) and trader estimates, and all resulting problem solving.

20% Analyze Tresaury Admin expenses and support the yearly budget process

20% Perform month-end close functions and financial reporting requirements

10% Participate in accounting related projects and respond to ad-hoc requests

10% Produce management reporting

10% Provide back-up coverage for other members of the accounting team.


Bachelors degree in Accounting

Minimum of 2 years accounting experience

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Strong analytical ability

Demonstrated initiative and ability to effectively manage workload in a growth business

Demonstrated ability to effectively work cross functionally with accounting, trading, documentation, tax, legal and operations personnel in multiple geographies

Strong Microsoft Excel skills

Strong preference for financial services experience

Strong preference for public accounting experience

Knowledge of U.S. GAAP with strong preference for experience with FAS 133 & 157, trading securities, long term debt and hedging, and derivative assets

Experience using IRIS and Summit
