The Eberly College of Science IT group is seeking an experienced, creative, and highly motivated Systems Administrator (level 3) to become part of the Infrastructure Team. The Infrastructure Team is responsible for the development, deployment, and management of centralized computing services for the College. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to customer service, an ability to quickly learn new technologies, and an aptitude for problem determination and resolution. He/she will be responsible for the design, configuration and management of Linux, MacOSX, Windows, and network systems, and have existing Unix/Linux, security and storage technologies experience. The candidate must have strong knowledge of network infrastructure, and management of hardware and software in a secure network environment. Experience using a major Linux distribution, such as RedHat, CentOS, and/or Debian, is preferred. Working within a virtual environment using VMware and VSphere as well as multi-OS environments is a plus. Working knowledge of the following systems and environments is required: Windows Server 2008, Active Directory, and System Management tools such as Tivoli Endpoint Manager (TEM), Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP), Windows Server Update Services (WSUS). Other expectations of the position are: create and maintain documentation; work effectively in a team environment; lead and be collaborative; be flexible; have technical curiosity and the desire to learn about new technologies and practices; strive to exceed customer expectations; and have an appreciation for working with diverse audiences. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary, including the ability to communicate specialized information to non-specialized audiences to resolve problems and develop plans for new facilities. Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
