The Systems Engineer

(SE) will be wholly, or in collaboration with other teams, responsible for the engineering roadmap, functional requirements, system-level design, system analysis and modeling, and operational support for a world-class infrastructure for the delivery of geospatial information and products. Primary responsibilities include:

  • Support the Software Development Life Cycle process used to facilitate system baseline changes, taking ownership of those deliverables expected from the SE organization
  • Manage system-level and component-level requirements and ensure adequate traceability to design documentation, QA test cases and operational training material
  • Create and maintain Concept of Operations and requirements documents
  • Create Functional Flows, with the ability to frame all requirements inside those flows.
  • Develop as-built design documents for software components
  • Work directly with other system engineers, product managers, developers, testers, and customers defining technical requirements to effect optimal system design/implementation
  • Work directly with internal software development team and 3rd party software vendors
Previous experience leading technical teams as a SE as well as experience with geospatial information and products, space systems, ground systems and/or satellite network systems is desired. Experience with team building, collaborative work environments and consensus building is desired.

Up to 12 weeks of travel per year.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • Active Secret Security Clearance; eligibility to obtain a Top Secret Clearance
  • Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace, Computer Science, Geographic Information Systems, or similar study
  • 3 years of Aerospace experience or 2 years of Aerospace experience with a related Master's Degree
  • 4 years engineering and operations experience
  • 4 years of experience leading design sessions with clients from user interface to back office with emphasis on geospatial segment of the system
  • 4 years of experience generating documentation to include system modeling, system & functional specifications, interface control documents and ConOps
