PRIMARY PURPOSE: Responsible for the reception and accurate registration of all clinic patients at a specific clinic location.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Greets every patient/client in a professional manner with a personal commitment to a high level of compassionate customer service.
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal and communication skills with respectful and professional verbal and non verbal exchanges with patients and coworkers.
  • Demonstrates ability to work as a positive team member in a team that may be diverse with respect to Race, Religion, Ethnicity, Educational preparation etc.
  • Works collaboratively with the Clinic Scheduler(s) to insure provider schedules are timely and patient delays are minimal.
  • Registrations are completed using Intergy module in an accurate manner following all established policies, procedures and requirements.
  • Registration data is entered accurately including insurance information (ID numbers, policy name/address, guarantor information).
  • Maintains working knowledge of all insurance payer requirements in order to assist patients/families with basic questions and directions.
  • Performs “insurance verification” on each patient appointment. Verification occurs prior to appointment and those patients with eligibility issues will be contacted for clarification/resolution prior to appointment. The CBO will serve as a resource to questions and or discovered issues.
  • Completes scanning of incoming patient documents as per pre-defined Intergy policies, procedures and standards.
  • Assists with answering of incoming patient calls as required by daily work flow needs. Phone messages are completed accurately and delivered timely to the appropriate person(s).
  • Demonstrates excellent multi-tasking ability my maintaining a well organized work space.
  • Demonstrates and models behaviors required for successful Patient Centered, Primary Care Model of care.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work as a team member in a fast paced environment.


  • QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Training & Experience (includes licenses or certifications)
    • Minimum Education: High school graduate or equivalent.
    • Preferred Education: Successful completion of medical terminology course. Completion/certification in “Medical Office Career” course(s), or Medical Billing course(s). Bilingual in Spanish.
    • Minimum Experience: One year experience as receptionist or primary customer contact position in a healthcare setting.
    • Preferred Experience: 1-3 years current experience as a Medical Office Receptionist and/or appointment scheduler. Experience with medical insurance billing or demonstrates working knowledge of medical insurance benefits and eligibility.
    • Skills: Working knowledge of windows based computer programs. Prefer experience with medical patient information/registration systems.
