This position will be based in our Bentonville, AR office. Travel is on average 20% or less.
This role directly supports the Walmart spirits category team by fulfilling required & pre-emptive tactical and strategic category management functions with a heavy emphasis on performance analysis, schematic design and business development projects such as shopper engagement.
Primarily responsible for executing category management at the account: category assessment, planogram development, assortment optimization, promotional planning and evaluation, account business plans, shopper insights.
Influence account to drive Spirits business in ways that benefit both Walmart and the category’s performance via improvements in distribution, shelving, national/regional assortment, national/regional promotion, Ease of Shop and sales.

Responsible for assigned Travel and Expense budget
Responsible for tracking volume impact based on Category Management initiatives such as post event analysis, price management, distribution and shelving

Deep understanding of category management practices and ways of working
Coordinate with cross-functional teams - sales, customer marketing & finance, for example.
Demonstrated leadership role in aligning customer and category best practice strategies and ensuring appropriate tactical enablers are planned and executed. Develop and foster relationships at the Walmart corporate and divisional levels.
Customized Joint Annual Business Plans – must assume a role and influence the development of category initiatives by aligning customer and national category strategies - ensuring appropriate tactical enablers are planned and executed
Decisions are guided by policies, procedures and business plan; receives guidance from senior manager.
Influence the development of category plans while aligning customer/category & regulatory realities. Ensure appropriate tactical enablers are planned for and are executed.
Lead efficient product assortment optimization process, segmentation and shelf merchandising efforts by developing, implementing and upholding shelf management strategy that is consistent with Walmart & best practice category standards.
College degree or equivalent work experience required
Minimum 3 to 5 years relevant experience required, preferably Category Management experience in Consumer Packaged Goods or Beverage Category
Highly prefer strong technical experience with advanced software skills relevant to Category Management function - this includes syndicated data systems (Nielsen, IRI, Spectra), shelf management software (JDA), Microsoft office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), and ideally also includes exposure to shopper/loyalty card research tools.
Strong analytical and presentation/communication skills
Sales experience with major CPG or beverage category preferred
Previous category captaincy or equivalent experience preferred
Beverage Alcohol experience highly preferred
